Possible New User Questions?

Post by jreedar »

Hi I have a DSC PC1616, and have a TL-250 module connected to it for IP monitoring.

So looking at the 2DS module I know it would be easy to replace the TL-250 with the 2DS, my main question is will I need to get the installer code for my system to use the 2DS?

I'd also like to switch from my monitoring service and use the Eyez-On option of full ULC Central Station monitoring, so just wanted to make sure I have everything from my side before making the switch.

Thanks.

Hi, no you do not need the installers code to install the Envisalink. It requires absolutely no programming of the panel on the DSC platform. But... if you take out your TL-250, then you will get a trouble on your system because the TL-250 is gone. You would need the code to do a module reset and permanently remove the trouble.

Thanks for the reply and info about the trouble that would occur from removing the TL-250, OK so to clear the trouble code would this be the correct code sequence?
Module Supervision Reset --> [*][8][Installer Code][902]

I just want to be specific when I ask my installer for this information, since I won't be using his monitoring service anymore I'm not sure how freely he's going to be to helping me with this and giving me the needed code.

Also there's no reason for me to keep the TL-250 installed is there since the 2DS module will allow for monitoring and all the remote access(arm, disarm, notifications).

Thanks again for the help.

If the IP monitoring is setup - you would also have a phone number dialling string in the communications>>phone number section, which should be DCAA as the dial sequence. You may have to remove that as well, or you will get an FTC error. At least I think that's the case.

You are correct and just for the benefit of other I'll list exactly what I encountered going from a TL-250 to the 2DS.

After installing the 2DS everything worked except I had the yellow trouble light on my keypads, when I hit *2 it shows a 1 and when I press 1 again it then shows a 3 which looking at the manual means System Trouble. Looking at the details for code 3 it shows:
Light [3] General System Trouble: One or more of the following troubles has occurred: the PC5204 Power Supply module has an AUX failure, PC5204 Output #1 Trouble, Home Automation Trouble on the Escort5580(TC), or a printer connected to the PC5400 Printer module has a fault and is off-line, or T-Link Troubles.

My issue for this trouble was specifically 'T-Link troubles' since it was removed, I needed to go to section 382 and turn off option 5 which is T-link enabled. So that made sense and this cleared trouble code 3.

I checked and option 7 in section 015(TLM) and this was already turned off, which made sense because I wasn't previously using telephone line to do monitoring. I next checked section 380 section 1(communicator enabled) and this was turned on so I turned it off. I then unplugged the power and battery and when I powered by up I was trouble code free!

So I hope this helps others!
