Will I lose DSC Power Series 1864 panel programming

I am a prospective buyer and I have two questions:

1. Will I lose my DSC 1864 panel programming if I unplug it and disconnect the battery when installing a 2DS? I really don't want to have to figure out how to reprogram the panel. The person I purchased the unit from also installed it but will no longer support me since I dropped his monitoring service. In fact, I don't have any of the documentation related to the installation codes, so it will really be a problem if I lose the panel programming.

2. Will installing a 2DS impact the monitoring service I currently use? This is a monitoring service I went to when I changed from a plain old telephone line to broadband. They sold me a device that takes the telephone line and converts the signals to be used over the internet by their monitoring service. It works pretty well but I don't think I can remotely activate / deactivate my system over the internet with the hardware I currently have in my panel. So the bottom line is that I am considering using a 2DS to allow me to access the panel over the internet while I continue using the broadband monitoring service I have already prepaid. I want to make sure this will not cause a problem for my monitoring service.
