Just installed my EnvisaLink 4 and it's working great! I run a six zone DSC 1555MX, but when I created my account I see a Zone 7 that always reads as "open." Is there an easy answer for this? Maybe it's my smoke detector relay? There's also an option to bypass this zone. What does that mean and is that something I should do?
TIA

What do you have Zone 7 programmed to? Section 001 item #7. Make sure it is programmed to 00.

Re: DSC - Mysterious Zone 7
I just checked our downstairs keypad (which we never use) and it has a zone 7 labeled as a motion sensor. If this is indeed an active zone, can you tell me how to close it (assuming it shouldn't be open)?
I wasn't sure what you meant by "Section 001 item #7. Make sure it is programmed to 00." Is that something I do on the keypad or is that something I can do on the Eyezon page?
Thanks as always for your help. I'm hoping this will be my last issue/question.

Just go into installers mode and look at section 001, just like you did when you installed your panel. You might need the installers worksheets.Moony_Lupin wrote:I just checked our downstairs keypad (which we never use) and it has a zone 7 labeled as a motion sensor. I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately, I didn't install the system. It was done professionally 11 years ago. Your comment about using the installer's code put me on the right track. I downloaded the installer's manual and saw that I press *8 and then enter the installer's code. I tried this combination with the default code, but it didn't work.
Am I out of luck getting into the system or does the alarm/monitoring company have to give me the code? I own all the equipment so I don't see how they can keep it from me.

Well, you could just live with the mystery Zone 7. Otherwise you will need to contact the alarm company and have a technician come and change the installers code. They won't give you their code as it will be the same for all of their customers.

Understood. Not sure its worth paying someone $90+ to come out and reset it.
Thanks for all of your help getting set up!

Re: DSC - Mysterious Zone 7
I resolved the mysterious zone issue. I recalled the installer (several years back) saying he would use the keypad as the zone. At the time I didn't care what that meant, but after doing some research I understand that my panel was out of zones and he ran the motion to this keypad to be a seventh zone. Anyway, I removed the keypad and the installer had wired all four wires into their corresponding color terminals, but nothing into the P/Z terminal. There's the problem! After some more research, I was able to successfully wire the motion to the keypad and now the zone opens and closes properly.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone stumbled upon this thread and wondered how it was resolved.
Also, since it was so hard for me to find, here's how I terminated the wires from the motion to the keypad.
Black to black
Red to red
White (NC terminal - motion) to P/Z on keypad
Green (C terminal w/resistor - motion) to black on keypad

Re: DSC - Mysterious Zone 7
Thanks for letting us know.
There was still something strange in the programming as the zone shows open but the partition was READY. Normally you wouldn't be able to arm the system with a zone open but you obviously could. I am wondering if the keypad zone was enabled in the keypad programming but nothing was defined in section 001 for zone 7.
Anyhow, I'm glad it's working for you.
