Hello all,
I'm in a bit of a predicament with the status of my home security as a whole. Some very strange things have been happening on my homestead the last few days. My 5 year old has 'witnessed' one of these events (random gates being opened, allegedly by someone on our property). Unfortunately, her testimony is unreliable. To corroborate her story I am in a dire need of the zone opening and closing activity for the last 24 hours or so. The web interface will not give me this data. I have read, however, that the TPI has that information available. I'm able to telnet into the TPI with my password and establish an connection but I quickly run out of talent. The TPI guide is confusing to me and not much help. As a result, I've hit a road block and I am in need of help from those smarter than me.
Is there a specific command that I need to enter to give the past zone activity, "00191"? How do I interpret the results after they are spit out? I understand that I am out of my league here. I'd be willing to allow someone to remote desktop into my computer and run the command themselves if that would be easier. I'd really like to have this information.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello, unforunately zone activity is not logged. If you have an Envisalink 4 you can use the Syslog client to log this yourself but it isn't available in the Envisalink 3.

Uggghhh really? I saw a previous post on as similar question. Here: http://forum.eyez-on.com/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=3661
And the response was "Right now you will have to use the TPI which logs all zone and partition traffic for you." So did I ask the wrong question or was their info specific to the EVL4?

Well, you could use the TPI but its generally not human readable. There is zone information but this won't help you as you would have been recording the output of the TPI during the period in question. You need to be recording this information locally on a computer using a terminal.
I know you don't have an EVL4 and I'm not trying to sell you something you don't need but the SYSLOG client is human readable and there are a bunch of free SYSLOG servers available. Existing EVL3 customers can buy re-stocked EVL4s when they are available at a substantial discount.

And there's a few other more friendly apps that can log - mine (the DscServer on android) for example will write a persistent log to a google Drive spreadsheet, google lets you archive them forever for free and they don't count against your free limit (at least they currently do not).
As was mentioned though, nothing will help with those events that have already happened as they're not saved in the device, there's no api to pull them after the fact.
BTW, even if you're an apple user you can pick up a low end android device for $20-$30 from best buy and leave it running at home to monitor and log and forget, you wouldn't need to become a fandroid.

Oh nice! That sounds like a great option. I'll start trolling Craigslist for a cheap android device.
I appreciate the help and feedback.
