Hi Folks!
I'm a security dealer and I was wondering if we can download with Honeywell/Ademco's "compass" software? I noticed some talking about DLS working on DSC panels...
Thanks
Jim

Welcome to not being answered, every time I ask a detailed question about the module the forum thread dies. I have had a few up for weeks now with no answer, not even a comment like we don't know or anything, Even tried starting a new thread, still nothing.

Pounder, usually people don't answer threads that they don't have an answer for. I think that's even proper etiquette, isn't it?
As for this thread, you will need to wait for someone from Envisacor to answer. I don't even know what compass is.

I've asked questions about the quick api several times in several places, that's your domain not envisacor as far as I understand it (although I really don't understand how separate your companies actually are, from the outside it just seems like 2 departments under the same roof.) I haven't had so much as a whiff of an answer or even acknowledgement you saw the questions. I know mikep would like answers to the partition definition list as well since we discussed it as related to his app already.
As for the blocking of the responses when in installer mode that's a totally separate question - Can you answer ? yes no maybe - you seem to know what is and isn't in the firmware, and have made vague references to there isn't space to do that - All we are asking is not to block something which doesn't take extra code space.
Sorry if I seem impatient, but its ok to at least say I don't know or I will pass that on to someone who does know. Just leaving a question totally uncommented on makes the other person wonder if it was noticed or is being ignored or what, especially after asking more than once.

We have no plans to support Ademco downloading over the Envisalink at this time. My team has a backlog of about 6 months of other features that need to be cleared before we'd be open to explore this.
DSC downloading is currently in development and we hope to release it early next year. FYI.

Thanks for the reply!
Sorry to hear it (at this point) that its not available - still a good option for the regular monitoring though...
Keep up the good work and let me know if you get that functionality started and you need a remote dealer to help beta test it!

Any new news on this? This thread seems to be a couple years old, and myvirtualmonitoring offers the ability to use the compass software to perform uploads and downloads to Honeywell panels with their VM101 BAT, as part of their monthly fee. Maybe Eyez-On could add this support in, and add it in as part of EnvisAlerts Plus Service. Just a thought.

I think that Compass downloading is an important feature that would be critical to professional alarm dealers. Looking at the manual for the Cellular BAT, it appears that the way they do is by connecting their device to the alarm panel using both the ECP (keypad) bus and the phone line connection. On the computer than will run Compass, they wrote a Windows service that appears as a modem to the Compass program. This service intercepts the Compass modem data, sends it to the BAT via the Internet or via the celluar connection. The BAT then converts the Compass data into modem tones for transmission to the alarm panel.
It appears that the Envisalink module would require new hardware to be able to use a telephone interface as well as to generate ringing voltage to wake up the alarm panel. Envisalink may comment if this is in their future plans.
