EnvisaLink - extend (bridge) KEYBUS over LAN

Hi All,

I realise this may be a bit out of context here, but the EnvisaLink products are the closest thing I've found to what I'm trying to achieve.

I have a number of buildings, spread out over a large geographical area (400 - 500 metres apart), and running 4-wire KEYBUS between these buildings is not an attractive option, trenching, cost etc. There is an existing TCP/IP LAN in place, via point-point wireless links between all the buildings.

I would love to be able to leverage this LAN/network to extend the KEYBUS across the property, enabling use of zone expanders/sensors and codepads in several remote buildings - connected back to a central DSC 1864 panel. The objective is to have a single, integrated system, distributed over a wide geographical area.

Has anyone explored a similar application - are there existing solutions on the market that come close to achieving this outcome? Appreciate any advice/inputs!

Best regards,

Michael.

I've never done it to that extent, but that should work. I think there is a wiring limit of about 1,000 feet for the sensors. I've used cat 5/6 patching to relocate my panel recently and it worked flawlessly.

Thanks Madelinot.

So two Envisalink 3 devices, connected back to back via Ethernet.... How would one configure each Envisalink to route the KEYBUS traffic to/from the other?

In the scenario I envisage, each pair of Envisalink3 devices would be acting as a transparent KEYBUS bridge, rather than as slave/nodes on the KEYBUS itself....

Cheers,

Michael.
