Newbie flummoxed by Vista panel installation

Post by david@dweeks.net »

Before buying a EVL3 for my Vista 15P, I watched the YouTube installation video. It indicated that all I had to do was to connect 4 loose wires to the EVL3.

So when the module arrives, I open up the panel box, and am confronted by a relative rats-nest of wires.

I'll admit my inexperience; I have idea how to proceed, as the video has no relation to what my installation is like.

Here's a photo.

If anyone can tell me where the mystery 4 wires are, I'll be forever grateful.

Starting from the "left" you will use terminal #4 "Negitive" #5 "Positive"#6" Data In" #7 "Data Out"
Plus there is some programming, So you will need the Installer Code.

I have hooked up a few of these to Ademco Vista panels, so if you need help I can walk you through the process.

Do you live in the states?

Thanks!

I have since learned from Eyezon on that the video on Youtube is DSC.

I'll post a few more questions for you a little later. I appreciate your offer of help. I do live in the States; Arizona.

After being gone on a business trip, I got the EVL3 module installed. I can talk to it with my web browser. I can see it from the Eyez On web site.

I have all the installation docs, but it appears that the original owner/installer (not me…I'm the second owner) changed the installer code, and did not log it in the Ademco paperwork.

I suppose that I'll have to talk the the security company office tomorrow, unless anyone has a way to interrogate the panel to get the installer code, which I doubt.

Well, about 10 minutes of Googling showed me the way to learn the installer code by de-powering the system, etc.

Amazingly, I managed to get the EVL 3 programmed with only a few false starts.

My main issue right now is that two partitions show: Partition 1 System and Partition 2.

I would rather not see the System partition. When I arm it, nothing happens.

Everything works normally when I use Partition 2.

Suggestions?

If memory serves me right the Ademco-15P only has one partition.

It's a 20P, I believe.

There is no "system" partition for control. You can only control an active partition.

Did you program your partition addresses correctly on the local Envisalink page?

Funny you should ask that…getting the partition addresses set at the panel was the only thing I had trouble with. The panel did not seem to respond (beeps) as it did when I changed other settings.

This is a screenshot from the local web page for the module.
