Need advice on picking the right security system

Post by tcsekhar »

I'm moving into a new home which doesn't have any security system installed. I was planning to install a security system with monitoring either through you or AlarmRelay or SafeMart. But I liked EnvisaLink3 and wanted to learn more. I did find the below information on eyezon website:

DSC PowerSeries (1555, 1555 MX, 1575, 5010 (832), 5020 (864), 1616, 1832, 1864)
Honeywell Vista Panels (Vista20P, 21P, 15P, and 10P)

But, I couldn't find any of the systems you referred to - for purchasing online. In the system I'm planning to install, I am looking for the following:

1. A system which communicates to the monitoring service through GSM (or Internet primarily and GSM when no Internet)
2. A system which allows me to add wireless accessories at any point of time down the line..
3. A system which allows me to monitor at-least 32 accessories (at least 5 motion detectors plus door/window/glass break/smoke/CO etc)
4. A system which will let me control it through tablets and phones (when I plug in the EnvisaLink3)

Optional (not a required):
5. A system which allows controlling lights and other accessories
6. A system which will allow me to add IP cameras as input

Can you please recommend me a system from Home Security Store or Amazon which would let me use your EnvisaLink3?

You can go with DSC or honeywell. On DSC, I would go with an 1832 or 1864. Pick a bundle that works for you but here is one for an example that comes with a wireless keypad. The RF keypad will let you add wireless zones later if the sensors are within range of where you place the keypad.

The 1832 and 1864 come with 8 hardwire zones so you will need to group some door/window contacts on one zone loop or add some PC5108 zone expanders if you want 32 hardwire zones. Hope that helps.

WS4945BN WS4945BN - DSC Wireless Door/Window Transmitter - Brown 2 $29.95 $59.90

From surveillent.com site, purchased these:

Everything came out close to $900 - still 20% cheaper than getting them all from one place. Hope everything would work well together :)

From the aspect of having the widest support and availability of parts and support it would have to be DSC.

The WS4913 http://www.dsc.com/index.php?n=products&o=view&id=129 Wireless CO Detector, according to DSC.com, will work with the newer versions of the Power Series, version 4.5 and higher.

I have some issue about the newly-built house. Any surveillance equipment should be installed?
