EnvisaLink 3 SMS capabilities

Post by mike8 »

I am thinking of adding the unit to my Vista 20P. I looked through all the docs and I have a good idea of how to program it with my key pad. The question I have is can I send a sms to a mobile phone serviced by Vodafone in Italy? I ask because Vodafone has blocked the use of an email that can be transformed into an sms which forces one to register on their site and use their internal app which I do not know how to write a script to do that automatically. I know that gmail has a way to direct connect. Sorry it seems a bit confusing but I think someone understands what I am saying. Thanks

You are correct, you need to use an email-to-SMS gateway in order to receive free Envisalerts.

I have heard of other non-SMS alerting options available to iPhone and Android users but I am not familiar with any of them.

I have done some testing with 5 different texting apps on my Iphone, I found the Text Now works GREAT with the Envisalink, and it's free, and I don't pay for texting to AT&T and I still get all my text from the Envisalink server.
